Porous Concrete Mix

Porous concrete is a special concrete mix made using larger aggregates rather than sand, so that air and water can more easily pass through it once it sets. That makes it ideal for a range of applications where you want to avoid flooding or pooling or reduce runoff from a site.

Porous concrete allows for more sustainable construction by both allowing rainwater to recharge groundwater supplies and also reducing the impact of construction on trees by helping to transfer water to root systems.

Common applications for this mix – which is also known as pervious concrete – include a range of flatwork projects such as driveways, paths and car parks. However, it should be noted that it is not suitable for areas subject to particularly heavy traffic or which is likely to be used by heavy machinery.
